Entrance Permits are necessary when you are building a new home and/or creating a new access to your property. The entrance permit typically triggers the Civic Address process as well.
These permits are necessary to determine safe entry and require the Municipal Engineer, Antoine Boucher, to visit the property to evaluate site lines.
If the request is in conjunction with the construction of a new home or major renovation on a paved municipal road, there is $1,500.00 deposit required in addition to the $200.00 Permit Fee. This control mechanism was introduced in 2013 to assist the Municipality with responsible road maintenance. As there is potential for over 300 large truck deliveries per new home, additional resurfacing or patch work for the Department is required. This system will hopefully slow truck drivers down and ensure they are taking the proper turns when entering/exiting a property.
The Permit Form can be downloaded and submitted to the Municipal Office. The property owner stakes where the entry request is located. It will then be reviewed by the Municipal Engineer who will confirm site lines, safety matters and measure for a civic address if required. The same form is used to request the civic address sign. After inspection the Municipal Engineer will bring the file to the Fire Chief and Chief Building Official to notify them of the new address.
