On Friday, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli spoke with representatives from the Municipality of East Ferris, who took the opportunity to highlight the impacts of two grants totalling $229,000 that it received from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation in 2022. Funds from the grants were used by the Municipality to help with upgrades at the library and creating recreational trails.
In 2021, the Municipality of East Ferris recorded its highest level of construction activity. The total value of building permits in East Ferris increased by 167.6% over 2020 to $27.5 million in 2021, as total building permits jumped by 16.5%.
The Municipality of East Ferris held a sod turning event to celebrate the beginning of construction on the recently approved Centre Médical East Ferris Medical Centre.

During the strategic planning process, East Ferris Council deemed the redevelopment of its municipal website a priority as it serves as the main communication tool between municipal government and residents. East Ferris has now completed this initiative. Along with the redesign of the Website, East Ferris has unveiled its new municipal logo. For several years, the Municipality has discussed rebranding and developing a new logo to better represent the municipality and community.
The Municipality of East Ferris joins its citizens in celebrating the Franco-Ontarian Flag. September 25th is designated as Franco-Ontarian Day in Ontario. The date represents the anniversary of the Franco-Ontarian Flag, which is today 45 years old.
Council approved the 2019-2022 Strategic Plan at the regular meeting of Council on Tuesday, April 23rd, 2019. This plan is an important step in defining the goals that Council and Administration will deliver on over the next four years.
As part of the Strategic Plan process, Council developed new Vision, Mission, and Values statements and identified six strategic goals.
Mayor and Council for the Municipality of East Ferris are pleased as well as relieved to see that work has begun on the improvements to the intersection at Highway 17 & 94 (also known as Corbeil corners). This intersection has long been a concern for municipal Council members, residents and motorists passing through our community.
The Municipality of East Ferris purchased the former St. Theresa School in Corbeil in 2009. Prior to the purchase of the former school, the Municipality had received reports and correspondence regarding past site contamination and remediation efforts undertaken by a consultant on behalf of the School Board in 1999 and 2000. The consultant concluded that remediation had been effective.
The Municipality of East Ferris is pleased to announce the launch of their new signage program to promote businesses in the community. The signage program consists of community welcome signs for Corbeil and Astorville as well as directional signage.
